The Piccadilly line runs direct from every Heathrow terminal to Earl's Court, where you change onto the District line for two stops to Fulham Broadway, a total journey of around 40 to 50 minutes for a contactless or Oyster fare of £5.60 to £5.90. A pre-booked taxi or minicab covers the same trip in about 30 to 55 minutes depending on traffic, typically £55 to £90, while a metered black cab usually costs more for the same distance. There's no direct train or Tube service all the way to Fulham, so every route involves one change. Checked 2026.

Route 1: Piccadilly line to Earl's Court, then District line (cheapest)

All three of Heathrow's Underground stations, serving Terminals 2&3, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5, sit on the Piccadilly line, which runs through Hounslow, Acton Town and Hammersmith before reaching Earl's Court. You don't need to change trains to get to Earl's Court itself, only to continue on to Fulham. At Earl's Court, cross to the District line platform and take a westbound service two stops, via West Brompton, to Fulham Broadway. Independent journey planners put the full trip at around 40 minutes from Terminal 5 and closer to 50 minutes from Terminals 2&3 or Terminal 4, since those terminals join the Piccadilly line slightly further from central London. The single fare with contactless or Oyster pay-as-you-go is £5.60 to £5.90, the same flat rate Heathrow charges to most central London destinations regardless of time of day.

Route 2: Elizabeth line, for a different connection

If you'd rather avoid the longer Piccadilly line run, especially from Terminal 5, the Elizabeth line reaches central London in around 30 minutes for a flat £15.50 single to Zone 1. From a central stop such as Paddington you'd still need a District line connection or a bus down to Fulham, which usually makes this route slower and considerably more expensive overall than the direct Piccadilly and District line combination above. It's mainly worth considering if your flight connects better with the Elizabeth line's schedule or you're also stopping in central London first.

Route 3: Taxi or minicab

A pre-booked minicab is the simplest door-to-door option and typically the cheapest way to go by road, with fixed quotes commonly seen from around £55 to £90 for the roughly 10 to 14 mile drive, depending on the operator, vehicle size and time of booking. Journey time varies widely with traffic on the A4 and the surrounding west London road network, from about 30 minutes in clear conditions up to 55 minutes or more at peak times. A metered black cab covers the same route but usually costs more than a pre-booked fare for an equivalent distance, since TfL's metered tariff is not fixed in advance. Booking ahead also avoids any uncertainty around rank availability at the terminal.

Which option should you choose?

For most travellers without heavy luggage, the Piccadilly and District line combination is the cheapest and a reasonably quick way to reach Fulham, especially if you're not in a hurry and don't mind one change at Earl's Court. If you have a lot of luggage, are travelling as a group, or are arriving late at night when Tube frequency drops, a pre-booked taxi or minicab is the more comfortable choice and isn't drastically more expensive once you split the cost across a few passengers. The Elizabeth line only makes sense as part of this route if you have a specific reason to pass through central London first.

Getting around once you arrive

Fulham Broadway station sits directly beneath the Fulham Broadway shopping centre, a short walk from the King's Road end of Fulham and Chelsea's Stamford Bridge stadium. If your final destination is further into Fulham itself, such as towards Fulham Palace or the river, you may still need a short bus ride or a 10 to 15 minute walk from the station.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct train or Tube from Heathrow to Fulham?

No. Every route involves at least one change, most commonly the Piccadilly line to Earl's Court followed by a two-stop District line connection to Fulham Broadway.

How long does it take to get from Heathrow to Fulham by Tube?

Around 40 to 50 minutes in total, including the change at Earl's Court, depending on which Heathrow terminal you start from.

How much does the Tube cost from Heathrow to Fulham?

£5.60 to £5.90 with contactless or Oyster pay-as-you-go, the standard flat fare Heathrow charges to most of central and west London at any time of day.

Is a taxi from Heathrow to Fulham expensive?

A pre-booked minicab typically runs £55 to £90 for the 10 to 14 mile journey. A metered black cab usually costs more for the same distance, so booking ahead is the cheaper option if cost matters.

Which station do I need for Fulham?

Fulham Broadway, on the District line, is the main station for Fulham itself and sits right by the Fulham Broadway shopping centre and Stamford Bridge.

Is the Elizabeth line a good option for reaching Fulham?

Not usually. It's faster into central London, but you'd still need a further connection down to Fulham, which generally makes the direct Piccadilly and District line route quicker and cheaper overall.
