A British Airways flight from Heathrow to Philadelphia was cancelled on Monday 24 August, and at least five other long-haul departures were running 45 minutes or more behind schedule, according to flight tracking data reported by two independent outlets on the day.
BA67, scheduled to leave Heathrow for Philadelphia at 1.45pm, was cancelled, Yahoo News UK reported citing Flightradar24 data as of 7.40am. A second American Airlines service to Philadelphia, AA729, was delayed rather than cancelled, pushed back from a 9.15am departure to around 10.10am.
Other affected long-haul routes included Virgin Atlantic's VS3 to New York JFK, originally due out at 8.20am but retimed to around 9.30am, and United Airlines' UA26 to Denver, delayed by roughly 50 minutes into the late morning. A Scandinavian Airlines service to Stockholm, SK526, and a British Airways flight to Las Vegas, BA271, were also both running about an hour behind their scheduled departure times.
A separate report from The Traveler, published later on Monday morning, corroborated the pattern, describing the disruption as concentrated on a small group of long-haul services rather than affecting the schedule broadly, with delays clustered on routes to North America and Scandinavia.
Neither Heathrow nor the affected airlines had issued a public explanation for the delays and the single cancellation at the time of writing.
